Irish Moss is an amazing sea vegetable, also referred to as Sea Moss. This amazing sea vegetable has been used for centuries to support a wide variety of ailments, from respiratory issues, bladder disorders, bronchitis, halitosis (bad breath), intestinal disorders and glandular problems to swollen joints, lung difficulties, thyroid conditions, tuberculosis, tumors, and ulcers.

How to Use Irish Moss?

• add tosmoothies and broths as a cleansing and nourishing supplement. It also acts as a gelling agent so can be used as a gelatin substitute.
• use instead of eggs in vegan baking
• use to thicken sauces and add to dressings instead of oil

Irish Moss has a natural deep crimson colour. However, if it has been dried outdoors it can become sun bleached and take on a blonde colour. Our latest batch has been dried indoors to ensure its quality and therefore is a deep red.

Irish Moss (Chondrus crispus) is also a plentiful source of fibre, vitamin K, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc and many other nutrients (this can vary depending on seasonality)

Directions

Simmer in water to make a broth, or rehydrate and leave to form gelwhich will keep for weeks in the fridge. (The gel can be applied directly to skin to moisturize or soothe as an ingredient in home-made cosmetics.) Use the gel to set raw desserts, and to add texture and nutrients to smoothies and jams. Irish Moss can also be used as an egg replacement.

Our Irish Moss is organically wild harvested, then dried naturally to preserve its dense nutritional value. We test all our seaweed for contaminants before packing it in our New Zealand facility.

Storage: Irish Moss is light sensitive and may lighten in colour if exposed to sunlight for extended periods of time. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Seaweeds are hygroscopic, meaning they absorb moisture from the air, so seal securely once opened.

Warnings: Contains naturally occurring iodine. Excessive consumption may exceed recommended daily dietary intakes which could have adverse effects.
